What are the Textbook Library's opening hours?
Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm (except on national holidays).
Do I need a library card in order to use the Textbook Library?
You need to leave one form of valid ID with the service desk on the first floor and you will be given a temporary guest card. This is all you need to be able to use the Textbook Library.
Can textbooks and related materials be loaned from the Textbook Library?
No. All textbooks and other materials are limited to use within the Textbook Library.
Can materials from the library be photocopied (or printed out)? If so, how much does it cost?
The Textbook Library has multifunctional printers available for both black and white copying and printing. The costs are as follows: single-sided A3 sized copies are NT$2 per page; double-sided are NT$4 per page. Single-sided A4 and B4 copies are NT$1.5 per page; double-sided A4 and B4 are NT$3 per page. All fractional prices are rounded up to the next integer (e.g., NT$4.5 will be charged as NT$5).

Readers who want to make use of these services are obligated to abide by any R.O.C. laws pertaining to the copying of printed materials, such as the Copyright Act and the Library Act.

Is photographic reproduction of materials permitted?
The Textbook Library has a copy stand for photo reproduction. Self-service use of the equipment is free. Readers who want to make use of these services are obligated to abide by any R.O.C. laws pertaining to the copying of printed materials, such as the Copyright Act and the Library Act.
Is it possible to get materials scanned?
Unfortunately, the Textbook Library does not provide scanning services at this time.
How do I search for materials at the Textbook Library?
By using the Textbook Library's Online Public Access Catalog.
How do I make a request to see materials that require special access?
By submitting a request form. Please ask one of our staff for assistance.
Is it permitted to browse materials from the Digital Archive for Textbooks?
These materials can be browsed, searched for, or printed out using the Textbook Library's public computers. They can also be partly viewed using an outside internet connection, but full-text viewing can only be done from inside the library.
In addition to Taiwan, materials and textbooks from what other countries and/or regions does the Textbook Library provide?
Currently, the Textbook Library stocks educational materials from Japan, the U.S., Mainland China, Finland, Germany, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Is it possible to purchase current, approved textbooks through the Textbook Library?
For a given textbook, please consult the publisher's web page for contact and sales information.
Does the Textbook Library keep unified textbooks (i.e. textbooks published by a public sector publisher) in stock that are available for purchase?
Unified textbooks are all out of print and are therefore not for sale. The Textbook Library keeps copies of them in stock for use within the library only.
How can I obtain current curriculum guidelines?
Curriculum guidelines can be found on the relevant pages of the Ministry of Education's website where they are available for download. For printed copies of these materials, please direct inquires to the Ministry of Education's Co-op (教育部員工消費合作社).
Does the National Academy for Educational Research (NAER) sell materials for teaching Chinese as a foreign language?
Our organization, the NAER, previously known as the National Institute for Compilation and Translation (國立編譯館), once worked together with the World Chinese Language Association (世界華語文教育學會) to produce introductory, intermediate, and advanced textbooks as well as reading materials for Mandarin along with student workbooks and teaching guides. These materials are distributed exclusively by Ting-Wen Publishing House (鼎文書局 info.ting-wen.com). Please contact them directly for further information. For information on other materials for Chinese as a foreign language, including published materials in book format, available online or as digital media, we suggest contacting the Overseas Community Affairs Council (僑務委員會 www.ocac.gov.tw/ocac).
What other libraries are included in the Textbook Library's Interlibrary services?
The Textbook Library is a member of the Nationwide Document Delivery Service (NDDS) and its services extend to all libraries within the NDDS network. For any NDDS users who are experiencing a problem (such as with your username or any materials you may be trying to access), please contact the person in charge at the library in question.
What types of interlibrary services does the Textbook Library provide?
Within the boundaries of the Copyright Act, the Textbook Library provides photocopy services for books, textbooks, periodical, reports, master's theses and doctorial dissertations. However, services for the interlibrary loaning of materials are not provided.
How do I apply online for interlibrary loan copy services?
Method #1:
Apply via the Nationwide Document Delivery Service (NDDS) system.
  • Suitable for university students and professors, museum and research center staff, and anyone with a public library card.

Apply via the full text service provided by the Science & Technology Policy Research and Information Center (STPI).
When filling out the application form for interlibrary loan services, which member library should I choose?
Please select National Academy for Educational Research Library and then make a note saying “Applying for copy services from the Textbook Library”.
How much does it cost to use interlibrary copy services?
  1. The costs are as follows: single-sided A3 sized copies are NT$3 per page; double-sided are NT$6 per page. Single-sided A4 and B4 copies are NT$2 per page; double-sided A4 and B4 are NT$4 per page.
  2. Other fees, such as postage or processing fees, are calculated according to the NDDS and STPI standards. For more details, see their respective websites.
Once I have applied online for copy services, how long does it take before my copies are ready to pick up?
It really depends on how large your order is, but in general, orders are ready within 14 days.
How do I find out what textbook versions are approved?
Information regarding approved textbook versions can be accessed via the Textbook Review and Approval Information Network at review.naer.edu.tw/Bulletin.
